2008 SAM AWARDS FINALIST
BEST KITCHEN RENOVATION
I am sad to say that this wonderful home is no longer standing, it became victim of the 2013 floods and had to be demolished. This family really enjoyed entertaining and we discussed the kitchen design in tremendous detail to create an efficient space. One challenge we had was duct work from a bathroom above and this had to be disguised in a boxed bulkhead running above the range hood and dining room door opening. The wife wanted a more modern design selecting a “slab” door profile, the husband was upset that we were removing the old wood paneling in the house. I bridged a gap in their tastes by using cherry slab cabinetry to give a modern flavor with a warm cognac stain while retaining the character of wood. Everyone was happy and absolutely loved the finished result.
